SAAFF at Seattle Black Film Festival 2026 Opening Night

Last night, ten of us from SAAFF rolled out to Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute for the opening of the Seattle Black Film Festival 2026. Big thank you to our friends at Langston and the SBFF team for inviting us out. We love getting to show up for the community partners who make Seattle's festival ecosystem feel like home.

The evening kicked off with the SBFF 2026 Opening Night Party in the Grand Hall: purple carpet, hors d'oeuvres, and a room full of filmmakers, creatives, and culture-shapers. From there we headed into the theater for the opening night feature, TCB: The Toni Cade Bambara School of Organizing, a documentary on the writer, filmmaker, and cultural worker whose life and lessons shaped a generation of artists committed to community empowerment. We closed out the night at the SBFF Reunion Mixer.

SBFF 2026 runs through this weekend, April 30 through May 3, at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. If you're in town, go support. All the information you’ll need is here https://www.langstonseattle.org/seattle-black-film-festival/

Big love to Langston and SBFF!
