Our Roots — 1985

The first Seattle Asian American Film Festival was founded in 1985 by KingStreet Media, a community-based Asian American media group in Seattle’s International District. After several iterations over the decades, SAAFF was relaunched in 2013 — carrying forward the same spirit of celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander stories through film, art, and community.
