C-ID Summer Cinema Is Back: Your Guide to Four Free Movie Nights in August
Summer nights are better under the stars, and this August they are back in Hing Hay Park. SAAFF's C-ID Summer Cinema returns for four Saturdays of free outdoor films, live performances from local artists, and community in the heart of the Chinatown-International District.
Every Saturday, live performances kick off at 7:00 PM and films begin at 7:30 PM. Admission is completely free, all are welcome, and the only thing you need to bring is a blanket, a few snacks, and your friends. Here is what is playing.
August 1 - Hoppers
We are opening with a splash. In Disney and Pixar's newest adventure, scientists figure out how to "hop" human minds into lifelike robot animals, and one girl crosses over to save the wild she loves, accidentally sparking an uprising along the way.
August 8 - Eve and the Fire Horse
Julia Kwan's tender coming-of-age story follows two Chinese-Canadian sisters navigating faith, family, and the wide-open imagination of childhood.
August 15 - Ulam: Main Dish
Come hungry. Alexandra Cuerdo's Ulam was the first Filipino food documentary to reach audiences around the world, following the chefs who brought Filipino cuisine to the center of the American table.
August 22 - Shaolin Soccer
We are closing out summer with pure joy. Stephen Chow's high-flying kung fu comedy classic follows a washed-up coach and a Shaolin master as they build the most unlikely soccer team ever assembled.
